Q. Why is it important to understand the importance and symbolism of images?
Imagery is imperative in digital communication 140; a symbol shows a complex idea with few words. Understanding the importance of symbolism in images is another language in the 21st century, as there is hidden meaning to discover. Image symbolism can also achieve the same results as several sentences (Blogger, 2017).
Symbolism of images is important as it is a way to communicate ideas and key concepts with others. It provides information deeper than a description about an object. Symbolism is important in representing noteworthy aspects like religion, mathematics, architecture and advertising (M et al., 2017).
In week six in comm140, we learnt about the importance of visual learning and how to implement it in our future classrooms as educators. The power of a stimulating image can sway emotions either way of the spectrum; happy and or sad. It is important to carefully select images as some may be inappropriate or too powerful for young children to view.
Hence symbolism in imagery is an important tool to know how to use in the 21st century learning environment. Practicing teachers need to be aware of the importance of visual learning and also need to recognise which of their students is a visual learning so that educators can help them improve.
